The Story Of My Belgian Tervuren
by Marie Yvette
(India)
I have been the proud owner of my darling Rex a Belgian Tervuren dog.
He died on Saturday at age 14. He is irreplaceable.
He symbolized love, patience, fidelity humor, wisdom intelligence and a remarkable depth of understanding and yes... forgiveness for he easily forgave my other dog for attacking him and continued to be his affectionate self with him.
I miss him and no dog can take his place.
Comments From the Editors at Dog-SpoilingHi Marie,
Thanks for writing to us about your dog.
While it is always difficult to lose a treasured pet, we hope that you will find comfort in remembering the many wonderful times you and Rex enjoyed together over the years.
It will take time to get over your loss that's for sure, and of course you will never forget him. He will always have his own special place in your heart even if, at some future date, another canine companion should become part of your life.
Having written about the
Belgian Terverun on this site, we know what an amazing and talented dog breed this is. Not only are they loyal and affectionate family companions, they are also gentle and forgiving - as you noted.
Besides being an elegant and handsome dog breed, the Tervuren's intelligence and love for doing a job, has enabled him to be trained to help in police work, search and rescue, and also in the fields of therapy or where assistance is needed.
And it probably will not surprise anyone, that the talented Tervuren has also been successful in the competitive field of obedience.
It truly must have been a joy to live with such a dog, Marie.
In the days ahead, just hold on to those treasured memories when you are feeling down!
